Below is a summary of the actions of the Fair Political Practices Commission during its monthly hearing. The meeting agenda can be found on our website at www.fppc.ca.gov

Roll: Chair Remke and Commissioners Audero, Cardenas, Hatch and Hayward were in attendance. 

Item 2: Minutes from January 2018 Commission Hearing. Approved 5-0. 

Item 3-15: Enforcement Actions. Approved 5-0. 

Item 16: Assignment of Hearing to Administrative Law Judge (ALJ): In the Matter of Juan Sandoval Elect for County Superintendent of Schools 2014, Juan Sandoval and Vangie Urias; FPPC No. 14/434. No action by Commission. The Matter will go to an ALJ hearing. 

Item 17: Adoption of Amendment to Regulations 18746.1 and 18746.4. Approved 5-0. 

Item 18: Adoption of Amendment to Regulations 18746.3. Approved 5-0. 

Item 19: Repeal of Regulation 18901. Approved 5-0. 

Item 20: The Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act, Proposed Questions for Attorney General Opinion. No action by Commission. Item will move forward for legal analysis and return to Commission. 

Item 21: Compensation for Commissioners. Motion to adopt formal policy reflecting text of Regulation 18306, minus section B, and for the policy to be applied as of March 1, 2017. Approved 3-2. Motion for the Commission to start the process of an Attorney General opinion to analyze a prior AG opinion (The Honorable Michael Bennett, (1977) 60 Ops. Cal. Atty. Gen. 16) to see if it’s still applicable in light of the current status of employment law. Approved 5-0. 

Item 22: Overview of Enforcement Procedures. Motion for a review of Enforcement’s current policies. Approved 5-0. 

Item 23: Executive Staff Reports. Accepted as submitted.
