State Ethics Agency Names Acting Executive Director

John W. Wallace, a veteran attorney with the California Fair Political Practices Commission, has been named acting executive director of the commission effective today, FPPC Chair Ann Ravel announced yesterday.

"I am so pleased to let you know that last evening the Commission voted unanimously to appoint John Wallace as the Acting Executive Director. John is perfect for this job. He has a great deal of experience in the Act, he has management and personnel experience, and he is committed to the FPPC," said FPPC Chair Ann Ravel.

Wallace, an expert in public agency law and ethics, has over 22 years of experience as an attorney for the State of California. He has served in a variety of capacities at the commission. From May through July 2011, he served as acting general counsel for the commission. For the past 10 years, he has served as the assistant general counsel in the legal division. He also served as tax counsel with the California State Board of Equalization from 1996 to 2000.

Wallace graduated from McGeorge School of Law and earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Psychology from San Diego State University. Wallace succeeds Roman Porter who departed the position in October 2011.
