The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), California’s governmental ethics and campaign disclosure agency, today announced the appointment of Jack Woodside as the Commission’s General Counsel.

Woodside brings over 20 years of legal experience to the position, with extensive experience in both private practice and public sector legal work. Woodside has been the Attorney IV in the Commission’s Legal Division since 2012. In that role, he took the lead on the Commission’s litigation portfolio, served as the Probable Cause hearing officer and played a key role on the team implementing the Government Code Section 1090 program on advice, training and resource materials.

“I’m extremely pleased to announce Jack’s appointment to this important role,” said Commission Chair Jodi Remke. “Jack’s extensive experience in political and campaign law, his knowledge of the Act and his demonstrated commitment to fair and transparent practices will help guide the Commission to further the interests of Californians.”

Prior to coming to the Commission, Woodside spent 11 years as a Deputy Attorney General in the Government Law Section at the Attorney General’s Office. Before that, he was an associate attorney at Porter, Scott, Weilberg and Delehant in Sacramento.

Woodside takes over the position from Hyla P. Wagner, who moved to the Bay Area.
