The Fair Political Practices Commission, California’s governmental ethics and campaign disclosure agency, today released the filing schedules for the September 14, 2021, Gubernatorial Recall Election. To assist all committees with campaign filing obligations related to the recall election, the FPPC completed the schedules that list the due dates for filing of campaign reports and statements.

The full schedule can be found here:

https://www.fppc.ca.gov/learn/campaign-rules/where-and-when-to-file-campaign-statements/when-to-file-campaign-statements-state-local-filing-schedules.html

The schedule shows the various due dates for the committees’ statements and reports. The first statements are due at the beginning of August, well before the September 14th election date.

Since the Gubernatorial Recall Election has been set for September, making the semiannual and first pre-election overlap, the FPPC exercised its discretion under Government Code Section 84205 to allow the combining of the semiannual campaign statement due on August 2, 2021, with the first pre-election statement. Please see the FPPC website for more information on due dates and the combining of these statements. The FPPC website can be found here:

https://www.fppc.ca.gov/

The schedule is found under the “Learn” tab on the home page. When opening the “Learn” tab, it will show “Campaign Rules” and on the top of the right side, the “When and Where to File Campaign Statements” is displayed. Click on that and the top of the page will display “When to File” and a link to open for “State and Local Filing Schedules”. The tab will say “2021 State Special Elections”. When opening the tab on the right, it will display the Recall Election and other special elections in 2021.

Besides the Gubernatorial Recall Election, these schedules also include Special Elections for Assembly District 18 (AD 18), Assembly District 54 (AD 54), Assembly District 79 (AD 79), Senate District 30 (SD 30), and a CalPERS election on September 27th and a runoff election on December 6th.

“Our goal is to always make it easier for the public to find the information they’re looking for,” said FPPC Chair Richard C. Miadich. “I’m proud of the work done by FPPC staff to facilitate these schedules and dates to make it as easy as possible for campaigns and candidates to comply and for the media and public to see the political activity.”

While the schedules and deadlines are found on the FPPC website, all campaign filings are with the Secretary of State’s Office on the Cal-Access website:
